| Abstract: | I have the pleasure to present the first Phycologica Polonica volume to you which was compound to press in 2006 in the editorial office of the Oceanological and Hydrobiological Studies journal as a supplement of it. Every year will present original research findings of members of Polish Phycological Society from scope of taxonomy, biochemistry, genetics and ecology. Possibility of the collective presentation of Polish phycologists works turned up to the international forum as a result of appointing the Polish Phycological Society. This society was formed on the 6th December 2005 at a district court in Poznań with the residence in the Department of Hydrobiology on the Faculty of Biology of the Adam Mickiewicz University (ul. Umultowska 89, 61-614 Poznań) as the resolution on the force in law from the 20th May 2005 drawn by members of the Phycological Section of the Polish Botanical Society present on the Phycological Section of the PBC meeting in Krynica Morska in 2005. The first Phycologica Polonica volume contains the research material presented through phycologists participating in the 25th International Phycological Conference (16-19th May 2006, Poznań-Łagów-Słubice) headed “Algae and their changes over time” and organized by the Department of Hydrobiology of the Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. Contents included in two sessions: (1) extreme conditions – episode, catastrophe; (2) sustainable development; were involved with original cyanobacteria and eukaryotic algae behaviors in the short and long period of time. The range of these behaviors was involved with the kind of biological cycle of species and dynamics of its population as well as structural changes of their communities in the level of ecological groups whether trophic differentiated water ecosystems. Articles included in the first Phycologica Polonica volume are presenting not only the diverse research works and the original scientific subjects, but are opening wider abilities of their presentation in the future. The Phycologica polonica periodical perhaps and so can be a forum for members of the Polish Phycological Society which with the extraordinary research sensitivity are noticing all biological and ecological changes of pro- and eukaryotic organisms in our hydrosphere. |
