| Abstract: | The investigation of Copepoda shows differences between morphological characteristics of 2 populations of Nannopus palustris, which inhabit tidal flats of Spitsbergen: Petunia Bay and Nottingham Bay. Ecosystems of tidal flats are utterly different and some morphological differences in body size of Nannopus palustris can be expected. The analysis of three variables was conducted for both studied populations: the length and width of individuals, and the length of the last segment of maxillipeds. The body length of N. palustris from Petunia Bay was statistically meaningful at significance level P<0.05 when compared to the body length of individuals from Nottingham Bay. N. palustris that came flooding into Nottingham Bay belongs to a different population than specimens from Petunia Bay. Moreover, they can be a set of random specimens from more than one population. |
