Abstract: The study was conducted in a deep dam reservoir under different hydrological conditions. Its primary aim was to identify the dynamics of chosen species of phyto- and zooplankton during months with high and low river inflows. The alga species chosen were: Asterionella formosa Hass, Cyclotella spp., Ceratium hirundinella (O. F. Müller) Bergh, Cryptomonas spp., Microcystis aeruginosa (Kütz.) Kütz., and Woronichinia naegeliana (Unger) Elenkin. The zooplankton species chosen were: Bosmina longirostris (O. F. Müller, 1785), Pompholyx sulcata Hudson, Keratella cochlearis (Gosse, 1851), Daphnia cucullata Sars, 1862, Daphnia longispina O. F. Müller, 1785, and Mesocylops leuckarti (Claus, 1857). With the exception of Cryptomonas spp., all the algal species exhibited statistical differences in average population density; however, among the zooplankton only Pompholyx sulcata differed significantly between months with high and low river inflows.
